What a great two days we had at the Parihaka Bioblitz on the 4th & 5th of November. This event was held in collaboration with many of our partners including Northland Regional Coumcil, Department of Conservation and Ngā Kaitiaki o Nga Wai Māori. The aim of the event was to identify as many species as possible living on and around Mount Parihaka in Whāngarei.
Schools, preschools and community members engaged with us throughout the two days identifying macroinvertebrates and fish species living in the Hatea awa. On the Saturday we celebrated world fish migration day with a special giant kōkopu giving away books and other spot prizes. Thanks to Whangarei District Council for sponsoring this event
