Te Oneroa a Tohe is our taonga and needs our love. The sea provides our kaimoana, the beach is our playground. Waste from fishing boats, carried in by currents, even some plastic all the way from Africa, (and some from locals) is on our beach. No paid organisation is tasked to clean 90 mile beach, its up to us. As kaitiaki we must maintain our beach, do we want kaimoana that isnt poisoned by microplastics? Do you want your tamariki to be able to play on a clean beach? Last year we filled a container with beach rubbish, this year we would love to clean right to the top (we will have a collection point at Houhora, if someone volunteers to stand up as Kaitiaki) to respect our sacred treasure, and preserve her.

Location Waipapakauri Ramp, Ninety Mile Beach
