In term 3 2022 Nic & Tracey from Whitebait Connection delivered a short programme to Morningside Primary School which involved field trips to the urban Tarewa & Raumanga streams in Whangarei.
Measuring clarity at the Tarewa stream
Being an urban stream the Raumanga stream suprisingly showed signs of great health. This was reflected in macroinvertebrate samples consisting of a diversity of species including pollution sensitive species. A large diversity of fish species were also caught.
